SaxoFest – Supporting Younger People With Dementia

Sax Bandits 5 August, 2026

We are incredibly grateful to Sax Bandits for choosing to support Younger People With Dementia (YPWD) through their first ever festival, SaxoFest.

SaxoFest raised an incredible £3,564.75 for families living with young onset dementia. Watch our reactions to the official announcement below:

Every pound raised at SaxoFest will help us continue supporting people diagnosed with dementia under the age of 65, giving families access to specialist services, meaningful activities and a community that understands what they are going through.

Music has a remarkable way of reaching people when words can become harder to find. A familiar melody can spark a memory, encourage conversation, bring laughter and offer comfort. It can help someone feel like themselves again, even if only for a moment. For people living with young onset dementia, those moments matter.

Music sits at the heart of so much of what we do.

Our charity run two choirs, one in Surrey Heath and one in Reading, alongside two community groups built around singing, music and dance. These sessions are about far more than music, they are places where people can connect with others who truly understand, build confidence, make new memories and simply enjoy being themselves without judgement. Families tell us that these groups give them something to look forward to each week, creating moments of happiness and togetherness that can be difficult to find after a diagnosis.

The generosity of Sax Bandits will help us continue providing these life-changing opportunities, ensuring more families can access the support, friendship and hope they deserve. This amazing donation could fund:

  • 20 workshops for people living with young onset dementia, including activities such as equine therapy and katakanuing
  • 30 carer support groups for husbands, wives, children and loved ones of those we support with a diagnosis
  • 118 hours of an Admiral Nurse’s time, supporting families through some of life’s most difficult moments

From everyone at Younger People with Dementia, thank you to Sax Bandits, everyone who attended SaxoFest, and every person who donated. Your support is helping families living with young onset dementia find connection and strength through every stage of their journey.
