The production process at MG Leather Work often doesn’t get seen by customers of our handmade music accessories so we wanted to share what happens behind the scenes.
There’s something magical in the way a piece of leather turns into a personalised luxury accessory. MG Leather Work handcrafts saxophone straps, pouches for saxophone necks and wireless transmitters, and even instrument cases.
The Crafting Process
From materials to final stitch, our popular custom leather neck straps are hand-crafted through a thorough process, consisting of several stages:
- The strap pieces are cut from premium leather and a soft lining using precision cutting dies under a press.
- These cut parts are carefully bonded together with the edges intentionally left open.
- A final cutting die shapes the strap into a precise outline.
- The workshop logo and the customer’s initials or symbols are hot embossed into the leather.
- A durable webbing strap with a length adjuster and hook is precisely inserted into the open edges and securely bonded in place.
- At the final stage, a perfectly even stitch runs around the entire piece, permanently joining the leather, lining, and hardware into a single durable accessory.
